Dr. Maruthur is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and board-certified dermatologist that focuses exclusively on skin cancer treatment.  While his father was born in Kerala, India and his mother was from Chicago, IL, he was born and raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas where his father practiced medicine as an endocrinologist specializing in diabetes.  After graduating as the valedictorian of his high school class, he attended Rhodes College in Memphis, TN where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  After college, he decided to become an entrepreneur and started up a successful freight transportation and logistics company, which he ran for 8 years that specialized in over-dimensional and expedited freight shipping.  Realizing that his true calling was in serving others, he changed paths and went back to school to pursue a career in medicine.

He attended medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he graduated at the top of his class with a 4.0 GPA.  After medical school, he completed a dermatology residency at Emory University in Atlanta.  Following residency, he moved to Augusta, GA to practice general dermatology as a faculty member of the department of dermatology at the Medical College of Georgia (now known as Augusta University).  Desiring to focus exclusively on skin cancer treatment, he applied to and was accepted into a Mohs Micrographic and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at the very prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York (Ranked #2 cancer hospital in the United States).  Under the instruction of renowned skin cancer surgeons Dr. Kishwer Nehal, Erica Lee, Kira Minkis, and Anthony Rossi, he learned the Mohs micrographic surgical technique for skin cancer excision, as well as plastic surgery reconstruction of complex skin cancer defects.

Dr. Maruthur lives in Homewood, AL with his fiance Dr. Kristina Falkenstrom, an intensive care (ICU) physician, and their Husky/Shepherd puppy Luka.  In his downtime, he likes to cook, play tennis and golf, manage software development projects, and explore the beautiful Alabama outdoors.

Dr. Morganti is a board-certified dermatologist with a special focus on skin cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment. Dr. Morganti was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Upon completion of her undergraduate degree at LSU-Baton Rouge and earning her Doctor of Medicine at LSU-Shreveport, Dr. Morganti completed a 1-year internship in internal medicine with the Brookwood Baptist Health System in Birmingham. She then completed her 3-year dermatology residency with LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, learning pediatric and adult medical dermatology, dermatologic surgery, laser procedures, and cosmetic dermatology. She has extensive training in the treatment of a variety of skin conditions such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis, acne, warts, infections, moles, skin cancers, and more. She strives to provide her patients with the most up-to-date, evidence-based data on dermatologic diseases and treatments by continuing her education through the American Academy of Dermatology. She places a strong emphasis on patient education.

Dr. Morganti is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She lives in Birmingham with her husband, a radiologist at Brookwood Baptist.

Dr. Harrigill is a fellowship trained and board certified Mohs surgeon and dermatologist who graduated from the Tulane University School of Medicine with degrees in both medicine and public health/tropical medicine. As a resident, he won two research awards and was presented with the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons Certificate of Outstanding Achievement.

Dr. Harrigill joined the faculty of the University of Arizona and completed a three year fellowship in Maternal-Fetal medicine (high risk pregnancies). He was also presented with multiple teaching certificates in the Family Practice and Obstetrics/Gynecology departments and was named three times to the University of Arizona Dean’s List for Excellence in Teaching in the Clinical Sciences.

In 2006, Dr. Harrigill decided to bring his surgical knowledge to the field of skin cancer surgery and reconstruction. While pursuing his dermatology residency at the University of Arizona and at Loma Linda University, he had the opportunity to learn from many nationally prominent Mohs surgeons. Dr. Harrigill completed a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery with Dr. David Kent in Macon, Georgia, before coming to Birmingham.

Along with being fluent in Spanish, Dr. Harrigill is a published photographer, a dedicated fused glass artist, and a classical guitar aficionado. He seeks to blend his artistic sensibilities with his surgical skill as he proudly serves the people of Alabama for their skin cancer needs.

Dr. Llivina (pronounced yee-VEE-nah), is a native of Puerto Rico, a board certified dermatologist whose primary clinical interest is the detection and treatment of skin cancers. As a child, she followed her dermatologist grandfather on his rounds and learned medicine at his knee. Dr. Llivina’s family eventually left the island and lived in Dothan, Alabama for part of her childhood.

Dr. Llivina obtained her undergraduate degree from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University, where she studied biology and minored in the history of art. She graduated from Tulane University’s School of Medicine, then served in the US Navy as a medical officer. While in the military, Lieutenant Commander Llivina cared for the Naval pilots and Marine recruits.

Dr Llivina completed her dermatology residency at the University of Arizona, an area with the highest concentration of skin cancers in the United States. Her private practice in Tucson focused on detecting and treating those cancers in older patients. She has been an attending physician dermatologist at Loma Linda University in California, where she practiced general and cosmetic dermatology in addition to her teaching duties.

In 2010, Dr. Llivina returned to Alabama. She is excited to offer complete skin cancer care, including full body skin examinations, lesion evaluations, and skin cancer services to her patients.
